UNKNOWN ARTIST - Corey Helford Gallery
I was really unmoved by this artists work. In fact, I didn't bother to find out his name. I did like that since donuts are a theme in his work he had donuts at his show.
Go figure! The best part of the show... THE DONUTS!
JOSE PARLA - OHWOW Gallery
A painter and historical transcriber who records his experiences using palimpsestic code and calligraphy. Parlá is also a visual raconteur who creates his work using backdrops, such as city walls marred from years of neglect, to tell the story of distress that he encounters in various places he visits.
BRYAN RAY TRUCOTTE - ART OF PUNK - MOCA
I was invited to this by an old friend, the artist, director, producer, etc, Bryan and had no idea what to expect... It exceeded all of my expectations and then some.
3 shorts based on 3 punk bands and how their brand was built.
GENIUS, SMART, FUNNY, and so much HEART!
...and he was invited by MOCA to present his work. What an honor and well deserved. I feel like a proud mama.
SCOTT CAMPBELL - OHWOW Gallery
A well known graffiti artist in NYC Scott went to visit a prison and there became interested in the home made tattoo guns the inmates had put together with what ever objects available to them. This show was a reflection of that visit.
Not many tattoo artist find notoriety in the snooty art world but dating indy actress and fashion forward Chloe Sevigny for several years and then marrying actress Lake Bell didn't hurt, rather helped his rise.
PAM HOGG - Private Residence
A legend in her own right... Fashion came so easy to her at such a young age... she didn't have to work for it. Discovered on the streets of London and handed a career she was so good at she didn't realize how difficult this was for most. Left the business at her height to pursuit a life as a rock star, once again getting some success and notoriety with a natural ability. When she decided to come to the fashion business is when she learned how really difficult this business really is.
"I don't term myself a feminist but I love giving power to women and I feel my clothes allow freedom."
She is PURE, RAW TALENT. There is absolutely nothing manufactured, fake or learned about her talent. MUCH RESPECT!
